Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Yes No Decide (yesnodecide.com) collects, what it does not, and the third parties involved in running the site.

The short version

Your questions never leave your device. The wheel runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to us, stored or logged. We use Google Analytics to count how the site is used, without anything you type. The site does not show advertising yet, and if it does, advertisers will set their own cookies.

What we do not collect

What is stored on your own device

A few settings are saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers them between visits. They never leave your device and we cannot see them.

You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Sharing and friend links

When you use Share result, the image is drawn in your browser and handed to your device's share menu or saved as a download. Nothing is uploaded to us.

When you use Ask a friend, your question is placed inside the link after a # sign. Browsers never send that part of a link to a server, and the page removes it from the address bar as soon as it opens, so it is not recorded by us or by our analytics. Anyone you send the link to can, of course, read the question.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which features are used and how the site performs. It sets cookies and records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device type and browser.

We also send Google Analytics a small number of events about how the wheel is used, such as that a spin happened, whether it was Yes or No, which mode and how many sets were used, whether a question was typed (but never the question itself), which sections of the page were read, and whether a result was shared. This is aggregate usage data. It is not linked to your identity.

You can block it entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Cookies and advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. It is intended to be supported by advertising, and if that begins, third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. The choices below apply whenever ads are running.

Fonts and hosting

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers to fetch them, which shares your IP address with Google. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs such as IP address, browser, referring page, time and the file requested. These are used for security and diagnosing faults, and are kept only as long as Cloudflare retains them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, for example under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to processing.

In practice we hold almost nothing, with no accounts, no submitted data and no mailing list. Requests about analytics or advertising data are usually best directed to Google, since that data sits with them. If you have emailed us, we hold that correspondence and will delete it on request.

Children

The wheel is used in classrooms, but the site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Teachers using it with a class can rely on the fact that nothing typed into the wheel is collected.

External links

We link to third-party sites such as research publishers and reference material. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes or as our analytics and advertising providers change. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
